Uplands staff look forward to welcoming our students back for the 2025/2026 school year. The start dates for our students are as follows:
Grades 1-6 Students: Tuesday, September 2, 2025 (Arrival 8:15am - 8:30am)
South Doors: Grade 1 & Grade 2
Front Doors: Grade 3 & Grade 4
North Doors: Grade 5 & Grade 6
Monday/Wednesday Kindergarten Students: Monday, September 8, 2025
Tuesday/Thursday Kindergarten Students: Tuesday, September 9, 2025
Pre-K Students: Monday, September 8, 2025
Early English Language Learners (EELL) Students: Will be notified about start dates, once they have completed their screens and been offered a placement.

New Students - Students who are new to Grasslands can register via our online registration link
Early Learning (Kindergarten, Pre-K, and EELL)
All kindergarten students who registered with Uplands School should have received an email about school supplies and the upcoming school year. If you have yet to receive an email please contact us at uplands.school@grasslands.ab.ca. *Please note that children are assessed and must qualify for the Pre-K and EELL Early Learning programs. Our Pre-K families can expect someone to contact them with information about the beginning of the school year.

Bussing
City of Brooks Bus Passes - Students who are eligible to ride the bus can register online or go to the Grasslands Board Office beginning August 21st. Please note, not all students qualify as transportation funding provided by Alberta Education to Grasslands is based on the distance students live from the school.
Rural Bus Transportation - Students living outside of Brooks do not need to register for a pass as long as the student is registered with a Grasslands school. Questions regarding rural busing can be directed to the Transportation Supervisor, Lynetta Thiessen @ 403-793-6703.
Walking School Bus - Did you know that Grasslands has Walking School Buses? Students who live in the neighbourhoods around Uplands Elementary, Eastbrook Elementary and Griffin Park schools can join a walking school bus which is guided by an adult to help students walk to and from school safely. If you are interested in having your child walk to school as part of a Walking School Bus, please register at your child's school. Walking School Bus will begin October 1, 2025
Personal Devices (Cell phones) in Schools - In June 2024 the Education Minister passed a Ministerial Order on students' use of personal mobile devices and social media in schools. Students may not use any personal electronic device during instructional time. Personal devices will need to be on silent mode/powered off and stored out of view so students are not interacting with devices. Personal electronic devices are any device that can be used to communicate with or access the internet or cellular network such as cell phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth ear buds, tablets, etc.
Grasslands App - Grasslands now offers parents easy access to information about your child’s school and the school division through our App. You can download the Grasslands Public Schools app from the App Store and Google Play.
